Committed to sustainable, meaningful investments in all Texas students! We represent school districts that send local tax dollars to the State through recapture

As we testified to the #txlege Sen. Education Committee, growth in property values is outpacing tax-rate compression in some districts. So taxpayers are paying more, but their local schools aren't getting more. A higher Basic Allotment would help.  #TxEd https://www.txsc.org/balanced-measured-approach-needed-for-tax-relief/

As summer begins, we want to thank educators across Texas for your extraordinary efforts to serve students and communities throughout the past year. Teachers and other public school employees have gone above and beyond to meet students' needs. Texans are grateful. #txlege #TxEd

What happened today at Robb Elementary in Uvalde is the worst nightmare of every parent and every educator. We are heartbroken for these families and their school community.

HB 3 temporarily reduced recapture. But due to surging property values, the state is now taking more money out of local school districts through recapture than ever before. An increase in the Basic Allotment would slow recapture's growth. #txlege #txed
