What happened today at Robb Elementary in Uvalde is the worst nightmare of every parent and every educator. We are heartbroken for these families and their school community.

HB 3 temporarily reduced recapture. But due to surging property values, the state is now taking more money out of local school districts through recapture than ever before. An increase in the Basic Allotment would slow recapture's growth. #txlege #txed

HB 3 guaranteed a funding increase of at least 3% for school districts. Since then, schools and the teachers they employ have faced fast-rising costs for fuel, housing and other expenses. Schools need a higher Basic Allotment to keep up with rising costs,. #txlege #txed

Just a couple hours left to get to the polls! There are important elections TODAY in school districts and other jurisdictions across Texas, as well as a Constitutional amendment regarding property-tax relief. If you haven't already, please vote! #TxEd #txlege
